The Australian state of New South Wales has around a hundred ocean baths. These pools are tidal swimming pools on the open coast and waves break over the side of these pools. Around where I live all the beaches have a pool its the perfect place for the kids to swim and is always a refuge on days when the surf is too big.

Henry Alexander Wylie, a champion long distance and underwater swimmer, established Wylies Baths in 1907
Bronte Pool
Also known as the Bond Ocean Pool after lifesaving pioneer and swimming teacher, Major Bond. This nineteenth-century pool was adapted for lap and competition swimming by using a turning board to define a rectangular course within the pool. Established in 1887
Coogee - Ross Jones Memorial Pool
Built in 1947 by Randwick Council and funded by 963 pounds from compensation payments from the Commonwealth government to Council for war-time damage to Randwick's beaches.
